Safety & community guidelines

A little care makes a safer reunion.

Check the details, not a badge

An email-confirmed label means someone verified their email. It does not prove identity or ownership. Ask about a hidden detail, an item feature, an appropriate purchase record with sensitive details covered, or another non-sensitive clue. Do not put every distinguishing feature in the public report.

Keep personal information private

Never post readable passports, licences, bank cards, serial numbers that provide account access, addresses, phone numbers, or children's faces. For identity documents, publish a general description and contact the issuing authority or an appropriate official lost-property office. Never ask for a device passcode or a one-time login code.

Meet safely

Choose a staffed public place during opening hours and consider bringing someone you trust. Tell someone your plan. Do not go to a private home alone or disclose a home address unnecessarily. Stop if anything feels wrong. Reunite cannot supervise or insure a handover.

No payment demands

Do not pay an unverified person to release an item, or send gift cards, cryptocurrency, deposits, or login credentials. Reunite will not ask you to pay a listing fee to recover your property. Contributions to the website are separate and always optional.

Pets and urgent situations

For a lost pet, notify local shelters, veterinarians, animal services, and the microchip registry where relevant. Do not chase a frightened animal or enter private property. Contact local emergency services for immediate danger. This is not an emergency, missing-person, crime-reporting, or stolen-property recovery service. Do not confront a suspected thief.

Content we do not allow

No adult or sexual content, exploitation, hateful material, harassment, threats, weapons or controlled-substance sales, commercial promotions, forged reports, money demands, or attempts to track a person. Do not list illegal or dangerous objects; contact the appropriate authorities for handling instructions.

Report and block

Use Report on a listing or conversation to alert moderators. Block a member to stop further messages. Relevant conversation content may be reviewed to investigate your report. Screening does not guarantee every harmful listing will be caught; human review and appeals are part of the system.
